Data Deletion

This page explains how to delete your personal data from the Novela platform, under Article 17 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) — the "right to erasure". You do not need our approval to start it: the option is inside your account, both on the website and in the Novela app for Android.

Deletion is permanent

The account cannot be restored and there is no grace period. We cannot bring it back — not on request, not through support. If you change your mind later you can create a new account, and it starts empty.

Together with the account you permanently lose:

Books and crystals you have already paid for are not refunded when you delete your account.

Delete your account data

The button opens the deletion screen inside your account, so you have to be signed in on novela.ro first. Nothing is deleted by pressing it: you still tick the confirmation and confirm in a final dialog there. After that, the deletion is permanent and neither you nor we can undo it.

How to delete your data from the website

  1. Sign in on novela.ro.
  2. Open My Account and choose Delete your account from the left-hand menu. The screen itself lives at novela.ro/account/delete-account, and you can open that address directly.
  3. Read the screen, tick the confirmation and, if your account has a Novela password, enter it.
  4. Confirm in the final dialog.

If your account has no delivery address saved, the website sends you to the address form first. You do not have to add an address in order to leave: that screen carries its own link to the deletion screen, and the address above works from anywhere.

How to delete your data from the Android app

  1. Open the Novela app and sign in.
  2. Open Settings and choose Delete account data.
  3. Tick the confirmation, enter your account password if you have one, and confirm.

Either way, you are signed out immediately on every device and the data is removed within seconds. You then receive a confirmation e-mail at your account address. The device records linked to the account are kept, without the account, for fraud prevention and for the content-protection audit trail.

Accounts created through Google or Facebook

An account created only through Google or Facebook has no Novela password, and none is asked for. You are already signed in through that provider, so the deletion is confirmed with the tick box and the final dialog, on the same screen as everyone else, on the website and in the app alike. Setting a Novela password afterwards changes nothing here, and is not needed.

Deleting your Novela account does not affect your Facebook or Google account; you can also revoke the app's access at any time from that platform's settings.

If you would rather write to us

If you have lost access to your account, or the option inside the account does not work for you, write to us at contact@novela.ro, from the account's own e-mail address, with the subject Data deletion request.

Please include the e-mail address the account is registered with, the name shown on the account, and how you signed in: e-mail and password, Google, or Facebook. We may ask for additional confirmation of your identity, to make sure the request comes from the account holder. We reply within 30 days of receiving your request, as required by Article 12(3) GDPR; if the request is complex we will tell you within that period, and the deadline may then be extended by up to two further months.

What gets deleted

What stays, with no link to you

Some traces of your activity are not deleted but anonymised: the account identifier is removed from them, and they stay on the platform without it.

What stays with your account identifier

This is the part a page like this usually leaves out, so we state it plainly: the records below are not anonymised. They keep the same account number your profile used. That profile no longer exists here, so the number no longer resolves to a name or an e-mail address on the platform, but it is still the original identifier — and some of these records also keep the IP address and the browser or device recorded at the time.

These records are kept for three reasons and no others: accounting obligations, fraud prevention, and the activity reports our partners — publishers and authors — receive for their own titles. If those interactions disappeared with the account, the reports would become wrong retroactively, for work that is not yours.
