CRYSTALS POLICY
Crystals are the payment unit used in the Novela app to purchase digital products. Below you will find the rules that apply to them.
1. What Crystals Are and Where They Are Used
In the Novela app, digital books can be purchased with crystals. Crystals can be used at any time, for any digital product, purchased solely through the Novela app.
2. Buying Crystals
Crystals are bought from your account in the app, in packages, in the currency of the country of the address set on the account.
3. Rate and VAT
1 RON = 100 crystals, price excluding VAT. VAT is calculated automatically, depending on the User's country, and is added to the value of the package at the time of payment.
4. Packages and Discounts
Crystal packages carry different discounts, depending on their value.
5. Validity
Crystals have no expiry date.
6. Products Purchased with Crystals
Digital products purchased with crystals are delivered directly to the My Novela account in the app and are subject to the same rules as any digital product, including those on file protection and the right of withdrawal, set out in Chapter XIV of the Terms and Conditions.
7. Crystals Are Non-Refundable
Crystals are a prepaid internal unit used to acquire digital products in the App. They are purchased through the mobile platform's app store, which is the seller of that transaction: payment, the store invoice and any commercial refund follow that store's rules, as set out in section 10 below.
Novela does not exchange crystals for money and does not itself refund their value.
The waiver of the right of withdrawal is not given when crystals are purchased, but at the moment the Client uses crystals to acquire a digital product. When finalising that purchase, the Client expressly ticks that they request immediate delivery and that they lose their right of withdrawal, pursuant to Article 16(m) of Government Emergency Ordinance no. 34/2014; without that tick the order cannot be completed. Accordingly, digital products acquired with crystals are not returnable.
This rule does not affect the Client's statutory rights in the event of an erroneous transaction or a technical error attributable to Novela. Such situations are handled under section 10 below.
8. No Monetary Value, No Transfer
Crystals are an internal unit of payment; they are not electronic money, not a payment instrument, and not an investment. They have no monetary value outside the App, cannot be transferred between accounts, cannot be sold, gifted or used as security, and cannot be withdrawn as cash. Crystals received as a bonus or under a promotion are subject to the same rules as purchased ones.
9. What Happens if You Delete Your Account
Account deletion is permanent. Deleting the account permanently forfeits any remaining crystal balance, including bonus crystals, and these are not refunded. Digital products already purchased with crystals are lost at the same time, together with their licences. A Client who wishes to retain access should not delete their account. The full consequences are described in Article 44 of the Terms and Conditions and on the data deletion page.
10. Problems With a Transaction
Crystals are purchased in the App through the mobile platform's app store, not directly from Novela. Payment, the store's receipt and any commercial refund are governed by that store's rules.
If a payment was made but the crystals do not appear in your account, or if a transaction looks wrong to you, write to us at contact@novela.ro, quoting the date, the package and the store transaction identifier. We verify the transaction with the provider and, where the amount was taken without the balance being credited, we credit it with no further payment from you.
By buying and using crystals, the Client expresses their agreement with this Crystals Policy.
